LUÍS | Sep 10, 2020The paintings of Ms. Ribeiro portray such a unique sense of consciousness and time that they act as if years have been moving over the canvas as you view it. They act as a careful examination of an object. Her works display masterful control over the figurative and abstract and the inherent tension between the two. I particularly enjoy the color and texture she evokes in her brushstrokes— working the paint to create depth and interest in even the most mundane topics. I find myself staring at the corners of her artworks because the background provides the viewer with as much intrigue as the subject.
